Tunnel Bodhran

A Bodhran recorded in a dark and dank tunnel in Edinburgh.

The story

As part of a time alignment experiment (watch film below) Christian decamped with his crew to a dark and dank tunnel underneath Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh to create a Bodhran sample record in 40…. yes FORTY dynamic layers. Duplicated for left and right hand use but spread across the keyboard so you can create epic deep space thuds.

  • Very nice tunnel sound library!

I think this one is very nice as a sound patch, to add cinematic texture to the composition. It is very easy to play as wide range of keys are assigned.

  • Massive, epic, agile...

Some massive percussion sounds like this are great as a one off hit but rubbish for anything else. Not this one. Great for complex rhythmic patterns as well as trailer "coup de grace". And that reverb tail! It's almost like it's a real space that's been recorded! Oh, wait...

  • A trully nice cinematic drum!

When it comes to percussion, I always try to come up with a realistic beat so I can see how they sound but also how they manually perform. I put this into an immediate taste by improvising some epic, trailer-like rhythm and it did unexpectedly well! The sampling and "stretching" across the keyboard is done perfectly, the dynamics are super nice. From sub-booms, to mid rolls, to ensemble-like sounds... they nailed everything! I am always a sucker for such percussion. Thanks!

  • Super playable and Epic

Instantly playable, super useful, and inspiring. There's no GUI, but you don't really need it. I've been using these samples on productions to punctuate big moments for a while, and reversing the sounds for sweeps and builds. They're just what the doctor ordered. Excellent stuff!

  • This little drum is BIG

Epic and versatile, I don't feel like I have a whole lot else to comment, but I want to point out that the dynamic range on this instrument is amazing. I would seriously just take even one note of this cause I can program in some seriously deliberate percussion parts. You would not expect this thing to be as massive as it is, if you're on the fence about this one I encourage you to download it. One of my favorite percussion uploads to the site yet. Only reason it might not show up as 5 stars is simply because there is really no UI - I don't think thats a detriment in this case, however.
