Having sampled my Schimmel piano for Winter Piano, Spring Piano and Summer Piano, there was one season left – Autumn. For this special time of year I treated the piano with different materials for each velocity layer – flannels for the most quiet layer, felt for the medium layer and no material on the loudest layer.
But this wasn’t enough! With the new multi-mic Kontakt template I decide to create two additional “mic” positions, well kind of. Instead of recording with three pairs of microphones, I created two additional monoliths through effects. The result is something truly special.

A wonderfull sound with some problems
While the sampling job on this little guy is magnificent, I found that there are some keys that don't really respond well at all. These are the A#6, B6 and C7. Then on the lower range you start getting a heavier click on the attack, which to me it sounds like it starts at D#3, and goes through E2. Midway the timbre of the keys changes a lot, like if the samples belong to a different piano... Some trigger sounds are weird as well, but fortunately you are able to control that via the very nice implemented UI. In general thoug the piano sounds lovely, but those small problems may be important to some.
Nice GUI with beautiful textured Autumn piano
It has three signals - dry, slate and tape. It does change the sound interestingly. It has a simple nice tone of piano sound, but with a little tweak you can get some unique texture from this Autumn piano. So nice!
The Schimmel Schounds Schuperb...
Agreeing with Ryan's sentiments below... This is indeed one of the best Piano's on the site. The granular reverb from Slat+Ash is amazing and bends in so well. The GUI controls make it super playable and easy to use. Amazing!
One of the Best Pianos Here
This is one of the best Pianos you can find on Pianobook. The piano sounds really nice, you have a tape option. You have a tape option! There are a few notes that seem velocity mapped weirdly and poke out. But otherwise so nice. You have a tape option!
Awesome piano with interesting GUI
As for the other "seasonal" recording of this Schimmel, the sound remains inspiring and perfectly recorded. This version is slightly more rounded and works well with solo playing. A wide range of controls allows full customization of the sound of the piano. The tape sound is really good. High quality and great dynamic range in a package that uses slightly more than 4GB of memory.
