  • Quality samples with small (fixable) issues

This is a nice sample set, the two velocity layers and two round robins samples per velocity make it expressive and natural sounding. To make it playable fully chromatically, you need to extend the note range of the "white" keys to the neighbouring black keys. A few samples have some background noise or an unclean attack, so they should be substituted by neighbouring samples too.

I did all this and made an SFZ file for this library. You can find it at https://tinyurl.com/vintage-glockenspiel

  • Simple but effective

Well sampled, perfect loops and efficient on space and with lots of character. I found at least one sample, which had a bit of a pop 0.5 seconds into the sample. The fact that there are only two samples per octave leads to some noticeable timbre jumps. This affects some sounds more than others and isn't really an issue when playing multiple notes.

I created an SFZ version of this instrument which is available in this repository: https://github.com/sfzinstruments/mappings

  • A well sampled, rather mellow Pianet T

The Pianet T has a very mellow sound, with soft bell-like tones in the upper registers, compared to the earlier Pianet N, which has more bite and bark (the latter was the one used by the Beatles, btw, my dear fellow reviewer). The instrument, which was sampled for this library, seems to have been voiced for an especially mellow tone. Even the high velocity samples do not have much high-end. And since the tone of the real instrument also does not change very much in response to the force, with which the keys are hit, the differences in timbre between the velocity layers of this sample set are rather subtle.

A few samples are improperly cut at the beginning, so they have clicky attack. This can be easily fixed in a sample editor or in the sample player by using an offset or a very small amp envelope attack value. The sound would also profit from some compression with an attack time of 20 - 50 ms to give the note attack a little more oomph.

Overall, I find the sound a bit too soft to use it for more than mellow, dreamy chords. The other Pianet T libraries on this site offer a bit more versatility, but this one is the only one with several velocity layers as far as I know.

I'm giving only two stars for the GUI, because I don't use Kontakt or Decent Sampler and I would prefer SFZ.

  • No frills, but very usable vintage-flavoured electric piano

The Pianet T sampled here has a very clean sound, with not much low end and soft bell tones with few inharmonic overtones. There is only a single velocity layer but one sample per note with full release. Compared to one of the other Pianet T samples on this site, this has bit more top-end and so is better suited for comping, in my opinion.

There's a click at the start of the D#2 (note 51) sample and the E5 (note 76) sample has slight "plop" about 0.5 seconds into the sample. The former is easily fixed by editing the sample or using an offset.
