The story

This is my first sampled instrument. I have always had a fascination with ringing sounds and I have mistakenly hit this bowl several times and thought it would make an interesting instrument. I copied Florian Hirschmann’s ‘The Lamp’ from Pianobook.co.uk (https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/the-lamp/). I used his .dspreset file and file structure as a basis for my instrument.

  • Like a hidden treasure

This pack is like a small hidden treasure. The simplicity of this resource is its strength. Without too many complications, the sounds of this pack are soothing and soft.

The size of the interface is good, it is comfortable to use. The only observation I have is the size of the text above the controls. I think that, if the words would have been bigger and in capital letters, the appearance would have improved a little.

It would also have been great if you had added a control to vary the lowpass. This would have made for a more than lovely result.

  • Soft and resonant

This is a very simple mallet-like instrument with a soft and resonant character, similar to a xylophone someone could say. It is a very simple patch that takes just 6MB of hard drive space, and it goes very well with any kind of Reverb, including the included one.

There is a tiny noise hidden after the initial attack of the sound, but it's barely notiable, especially if you go with some kind of a depth effect.
