I sampled the Steinway Grand at Mediatech Institute in Dallas, TX using a blend of Coles 4038’s, U47 clones and KM 84’s recorded through an SSL console.
I taught a music production class at Mediatech for close to 5 years. I spent most of my free moments at this piano. I focused on trying to make the sound as tight and warm as possible. The microphones were placed close to the soundboard and more attention was paid to the quieter velocity samples.

Thank you for this grand! The sound is really warm. Often VST pianos with warm sound have lack of attack, pianos with sharp attack have lack of warmness and volume. But in this instrument there are both these things. Of course, at the highest velocity it might be made sharper, but even now it’s possible to play soft and loud parts. Blessings!
Very Inspiring Sound
I played this library whole night!
in version1.1, Root of Steinway_F6_Dyn1_RR2.wav is not correct in Mapping Editor
I fixed it myself.
Rich, present and soft
I was lucky enough to practice on a Model D Steinway when I was at school and I always loved how softly you could play it but yet every note still played. And the bass was immense. This sample has captured a similar spirit really well, I love it.
Lovely sound, Kontakt needs some revision
Downloaded this for it’s beautiful tone <3 I noticed an odd clicky unplayable note around B5-F6. Some awkward velocity curves around the middle. Given some further editing this would be absolutely beautiful to play but until then it's not just quite playable for me. That's only my opinion though, clearly from the demos people have had fantastic results with this.
