PADS FOR PIANOS
I think it would be fair to say that in July Pianobook got a bit “paddy”, as reflected by Christian’s vlog and the large number of pad instruments submitted to the library (which now has its own Pads section).
MAX’s BENTLY PIANO (CONTINUED…)
If you remember from the June edition, Christian went to sample Max McGuire’s Bentley piano. Given the great community effort around cleaning up the Air Piano, Christian set the community the challenge of a “Sample Relay Race” to see how different people could collaborate in turning the original recording into an instrument. This is a great way to get involved if you don’t have your own Piano to sample and might even be a good way to collaborate in the future (not everyone has a piano, not everyone has noise reduction software or Kontakt skills). As well as the Relay Challenge, the Pianobook Forum continues to be a great place to discuss building sampled instruments with topics including:

Demos
Lots more great demos to the Pianobook Soundcloud page but we are always looking for more demos – maybe you can help create one with July’s submissions? Christian is also thinking about how we could use these demos in other ways in the future so it’s a great chance to get involved even if you haven’t submitted to the library.
