The story
Whenever I flew my Drone I heard its pitch and later found it to be middle C (C3) – cue sample!
To keep the drone stable in flight the four rotors are turning at slightly different speeds giving you this detuning effect, particularly later in the sample as I turn the drone.
I recorded it with a Zoom H2N and it also picked up a passing car later in the sample which you will hear on the high notes. It turned out to be a surprisingly playable instrument once you tame the fizz.
I collaborated with fellow Pianobook member, Darren J Prescott, to produce a YouTube trailer with tongues firmly implanted in cheek!
Hope you enjoy my Drone from a Drone and the Photosynthesis Engine where experimentation is the key!

So creative
This is such a creative sound source and the end result is fat, in your face and distorted. For me personally its too angular and digital as i personally am mostly into very chill, warm music but i know a lot of people are into these types of sounds and i think they will really like this one. Its cleverly ironic and a really cool idea. The drone has a really wide range too. I prefer the lows as theyre not so in your face.
A super noisy drone!
Honestly I will just say that this is basically the sound a drone makes but it's pitched properly, so you can actually play it. Through the Photosynthesis engine you can make it sound like a very harsh and ominous drone pad that can fit well in a sci-fi environment, but some processing will be required.
A buzzy sort of synth
This instrument is a buzzy, if slightly noisy sort of sawtooth synth. If you're looking for a slightly trashy synth sound, this is pretty much perfect. Coupled with the deep and well designed Photosynthesis engine, you can tweak to your heart's content!
Futuristic Sound
NIce futuristic sound. The best range to stay in is the low range. Not a bad sound. Just not one I would use everyday. Enjoy!
