This is a lamp by IKEA called Jakobsbyn. It’s placed over our dinner table. Corona forced me to work from home and so our dinner table had to move and make place for my iMac. Unfortunately the lamp is placed quite low and close the my had, when I sit in front of my Mac. I banged my head countless times the last couple of weeks. It did hurt a little bit but also sounded quite nice. So this week I finally brought a AKG C414 XLS from my studio and sampled the lamp.

The review title below this one sums it up PERFECTLY
A great story behind this library and a great sound since you open it up. Plenty of bells like sounds that have that slight hollow textures that is very late 1980s. This is the perfect library for adding organic texture to your music.
Somewhere Between An Electric Piano, A Steel Drum and a DX7
I really like sounds that are made from things like this. The dull bell-like tone from the lamp sampled makes for an instrument that lies somewhere between an electric piano and a steel drum along with a little dose of DX7 style bells - very nice! There is a similar sound in Omnisphere made from a bowl that I have used on a number of tracks over the years. Playing around with it yielded a nice demo track, for which I used The Lamp and The Lamp Pad sounds. I only used sounds from the library. No effects used other than some EQ and and some light mastering.
This IKEA lamp ended up sounding pretty good! LOL. This sound could work for you on a fantasy cue. Or mystery. It can also work in a pop song. Also perfect for Halloween month! LOL Enjoy!
