The story

I’m delighted to introduce Geotape Kontakt Library (Full Licence Only) – an evocative sample set capturing the raw, subterranean essence of the violoncello, performed by my dear friend Lisa Tourniaire and rendered through the Geofon from LOM. This unique collection harnesses the elemental vibrations transmitted through the cello’s bridge, revealing textures and sonorities that are rarely heard by the unaided ear.

What makes this library particularly special is its connection to the past: the signal was recorded using a single mono microphone at 96kHz, then processed through a vintage Loewe tape machine from the 1960s–1970s, discovered among the cherished belongings of my Swiss grandparents. This process imbues the raw cello recordings with a warm, analog character that beautifully complements the instrument’s natural timbre.

The library was tuned to A=440 Hz, offering compatibility with modern musical standards.
