12 String Harp

A small celtic harp with 12 strings and no sharping levers...

The story

A few years ago when I was at a fiddle camp, I saw someone playing a harp and was obsessed with it. It had 29 strings. The harpist gave me a few beginner lessons on it for the next few days.

The harp that I actually have on my own at the moment has 12 strings with no sharping levers.

Believe it or not, this is actually my first DecentSampler sound pack I’ve ever created!!! A huge thanks to Tobias for helping me out with the rest of the formatting.

I do apologize for some of the faint interrupted noises in the samples.

This sound pack includes 2 effect knobs for reverb and delay time, a few round-robins, and the samples were all recorded in the natural position.

  • A puncy harp with a nice reverb

This is a small harp with a playable range that covers 3 octaves, from C2 to C5. It has a very distinct character which is short and responsive, especially in the higher register that almost resembles a staccato articulation. There is a delay knob that controls time, and there is also a nice reverb that compliments the sound nicely.

Overall it might sound a little muddy, especially if you include the effects, that's why I'd personally recommend to brighten it up a little bit with an EQ. You might also be able to listen to some tiny little noises every now and then, hidden in the tails of most samples.
