Sparkletop Bass

Sparkletop Bass

Story

This sparkletop Fender Bass has been sitting in the corner of the studio gathering dust for many years.
Being new to KONTAKT sampling, I thought this might be a good place to start.
I’ve recorded 3 layers (p, mf and f) as well as a set of release triggers.
Apologies as I’m still trying to figure out how to incorporate the release triggers into the KONTAKT instrument.
Recorded direct through a UAD 6176. Because it has a smallish range I sampled each note.

I’m enjoying making my own sample sets and would appreciate any suggestions for improvement!

I really love this... with a catch!

I don’t typically super dig keyboard sampler instruments with a low-velocity count, but this one sounds really nice / the samples are very good.
To make it more my own taste I’ve shifted down the highest 2 velocity layers to be a little bit easier to hit, moved the range up an octave and spread the mapped extremes so that its full keyboard range to sort of “imitate” a full sized rhodes. And it does not sound like it at all, but man it has such a soft and pleasant / dark tone to it that is just lovely. Thanks for sharing this one!
