A nice, proper classical guitar
This free version of this lovely guitar is nowhere close to what you might hear in the demo for the premium one, but it still contains some high quality samples that you can use for free through DecentSampler. For whomever is interested in something more, this is the free version of a very well-made nylon guitar instrument, found here in Pianobook, and provided by Spitfire Audio.
As for this lite version, the playable range is just two octaves and a half (D1 to G3) and although there is no "automated" mechanism for the samples, they still sound great by themselves. I found them being slightly panned off to the left though, and by default this instrument is very, VERY quiet, so be ready to pump up the volume! You will also find a Low Pass filter, Reverb (splosh) and delay settings to add soem depth to it. It's just lovely.
Beautiful Sound
This is beautifully recorded: clean, even and lively - sounds very present, right there in the room with you.
Even the lite version is very usable as is (not just a demo) but I can imagine wanting to extend to the full version.It's the lite version, but still
Even though this is massively toned down from the original one it still sounds amazing! It sounds so, well, human. If you need a quick guitar, this one's a good choice for sure! (If you have the money the full version is just so incredible!)
Nice, simple nylon guitar sound
It's great to see the Soft Nylon Lite get its own page, because the situation with people reviewing the Spitfire instrument on the download page for a totally different instrument pack was a bit of a disaster for the integrity of the review system. It also lets us appreciate this instrument on its own merits without comparing it to the premium, paid pack!
The samples are good quality, though to my taste a little lacking in attack due to the limitations of a single velocity layer. There are just over 2 octaves of range, basically what you'd have in a drop-tuned guitar without moving from open position, and seemingly a few RRs so the instrument sounds fairly natural. Ultimately a nice enough instrument, but probably wouldn't be my top choice among free nylon guitar packs. But the effort to make something freely available to the masses (including support for a free sampler) on the side of a premium, professional quality library is definitely appreciated!
