The story

Diddley ebow is a one string cigar box guitar better known as a Diddley Bow. Diddley is a custom build by Tom Burton over at Chatsworth Guitars, an independent guitar company based in Los Angeles. We recorded each note with a DARK MATTER Guitar Slide and ran it through the Shallow Waters Pedal by Fairfield Circuitry, creating a chorus-like effect when blended with the Neve DI signal. This is the first guitar we sampled and it has its own wacky character that definitely makes it fun to play, and a unique addition to your sample library.

  • Take a eBow

FAT low drones and nicely buzzy high-mids for something between a Blade Runner pad and a Harmonium.

Super awesome GUI with FX controls (Shallow Water Pedal and a flock of Reverbs) as well as some filtering and modulations.

Knocked it out of the park.

SUPER SLEPT ON!!! Don't pass it by!!!

  • Mesmeric sounding instrument

Absolutely incredible sounding instrument. Just as with the plucks, it has an amazing GUI. I think they go very well together, and with this instrument, you are able to create some beautiful-sounding soundscapes. Again, an incredible job!!

  • A retro-synth sound to inspire

This insturment produces a kind of familiar sound to me, but it has the advantage of it being highly customizable, with three different presets and an awesome randomization button that can create some odd and unexpected results.

You might also like the other instruments by C+K, since they are made in a very similar and well-created fashion!

  • Ambient Inspiration

They say the quality of an instrument can be determined by it's ability to inspire you to create music with, this certainly delivers in that regard. I was initially put off by the interface, it reminds me of a poorly printed Algebra test paper, but that's just me, I like things in 3D, clearly defined boxes, delineated by colour, contrast and shadow. The Ensemble preset is the peach of the pack, a bit of levelling amp and some stronger lexicon reverb and you're in the ambient zone. I can't help feeling it is a little melancholy, although perhaps that's just the flavour of inspiration that struck me, slow release does that. A worthy addition to the collection and a rainy day reserve for some ambient music creation.

  • Awesome and simple ebow library

Rather than being a novelty, the Diddly ebow library is very useful for the long sustained ambient ebow sound. The UI is straight forward and easy to see and operate. I highly recommend it!
