The story

One sunny day last summer I collected an old Cavendish Organ from a lovely chap called Magnus that was otherwise destined for the dump. Realising it’s condition, I knew it wouldn’t be possible to use it as a recording instrument but wanting to preserve it’s character and story for prosperity and hugley inspired and assisted by the wonderful Pianobook community, I began a deep sampling of every working key as well as each of the organ stops. As I’m still fairly new to sampling/scripting, I still have a lot of work to do to realise the full version of the organ, but in the meantime I was interested to know how useable an instrument I could make using only one sample. These are the results so far. I hope that it can be of some use and would love to hear it being used as part of someones work. Any feedback or suggestions for improvement or future development would be greatly appreciated. All the best, Paul.

  • Wonderful!

Wow the pad preset is really phenomenal and has vibe for days! The default envelope coupled with some ambitious pedal sustain make for some very gorgeous ambient textures and dissonance. I had trouble initially taming some energy in the lower mids but I think thats to be expected with this kind of harmonic content. thanks for making this!

  • A super warm organ!

This is one of the warmest organs I've ever heard! It has a very nice and warm sound that might be just the thing you are looking for! Did I say it's warm? Oh you bet it is! It also comes with a tremolo slider, along with two different reverb settings, which greatly increase the volume of the overall instrument. There is also a volume slider assigned to CC1/Modwheel, but I'd prefer to have the tremolo there by default, and the volume in CC11. That can be easily changed by the user though, according to everyone's preference.

You will also find a fantastic pad patch that will melt your heart. This also includes handy ADSR settings!

As a minor detail, I'd prefer it to be switched to one octave higher, since by default, the higher octave on a full 88 keybed is inactive and the lower one on the insturment is not accessible.

Really nice overall, and all that in an incredibely small size! Highly recommended!
