The story
Last year my friends give me a ukulele for my birthday and I decided to sampling it.
I recorded it picking the plectrum very quickly across the thickest string and I recorded
the same string many time, but further and further away from the microphone.
After recording a few samples at different distance, I overlapped them and added
various effects to get this pad.

Great sound
It's like having a wonderfully tremolo string section at your fingertips. Bit of 'verb and it's such a workable sound. It's so inspiring what instruments people create from such simple-sounding ideas!
Useful Use
This is a great idea, well executed. It produces a really interesting sound. The feel is indeed of a full strings section but you can hear the tremolo of the original notes. Low down the sounds is properly sinister. Great.
A large sound from a tiny instrument
This makes me think of mandolins. Somehow an orchestra of only mandolins. A unique sound. I personally prefer the "dry" version, with the reverb all the way down, or maybe just very low. I love being able to hear the individual strikes.
