The story

The SoftHammer is a 40 year old felted piano with three mic Signals.

PS-2 – Modern, and Realistic

CV-12 – Vintage Tube, Warm and Cozy

U-67 – Modern Tube, Bright and Close

This is the best project I have made yet! With release triggers I have become very fond of. Happy Composing

  • It just works, I guess

This is one of my least liked piano instruments so far. Sure it has some character, and it has some mic options, along with 3 reverb patches to choose from. Sadly though, only one of the 3 instruments work for me, and that's the PS2 one. I have to completely turn down the other two, because on the other two, there is a very weird release sample on each note that repeats the note for a moment, and this just makes it unplayable for me. The 3 included reverb patches are alright, but it would be much more convenient if you could have only one patch with a slider for each reverb, so you can mix them together for a more personalized sound, without having to run mutlis.

  • Wonderfully succinct, works well in tandem

This is a cleverly put together sample instrument! All the .nki files work in tandem with each other, making it very easy to adjust how much reverb or room noise you want in your sound. The attention to detail to make sure all the files match up with each other really shines through, and the sound is a little mushy, but I'm going to chalk that up to being the quality of the instrument. Definitely a good addition to one's collection.
