Saxarimba

Using one of my favorite sounds - a slap-tongue - recorded chromatically across a limited range of both tenor and alto sax. The result is a fast marimba/pluck like sound.

The story

Always looking for ways to sneak saxophone in all sorts of music, I finally sampled one of my favorite techniques – a slap-tongue. A sharp, attacky, almost plucky sound, surprisingly easy turned into mellow mallet-like sound, harsh distorted stabs, synthy plucks with endless delays or washy explosions with blooming reverbs.
Recorded chromatically, including 5 round robins and 2 velocity layers (w/ crossfade), I included the raw sound and also 5 additional patches:
– Hidden choir
– Hold Me (cc1 = LPF)
– Muted Bass
– Never Forget
– Razor Pluck

I hope you enjoy!

Cheers,
Pavel.
