Mellora – Soft Bowed Piano (Lite)

Mellora began on my childhood 1934 Wurlitzer upright – an instrument that could no longer be played normally. When the action failed, Instead, I removed the action and spent hours exploring the strings directly, bowing them with rosined horsehair and experimenting with extended techniques. Over the years, I spent many hours recording these sessions, slowly building an archive of fragile, breathy tones that felt like the piano’s second life.

These recordings became the foundation of Mellora: a soft, ethereal bowed texture shaped by wood resonance, harmonic shimmer, and the fragile character of an aging instrument.

This Lite Edition offers a focused glimpse of Mellora’s character – a single bowed sustain articulation paired with basic shaping tools such as ADSR envelope, filter, chorus, and a noise layer. Even in its reduced form, it carries the same aged, delicate quality of the original recordings – perfect soft ambient pads, gentle harmonic layers, and emotional underscore.
