MDM Rank Two – Tutti In Piedi

A pipe organ in SFZ format sampled from Quilcom Rank Two VST instrument of Sir Rex Basterfield

The story

Here the story goes… — VSTi Quilcom Rank Two v1.007 (by Rex Basterfield*) is software synthesizer based on physical modeling (has no ‘samples’, hence is very slim and handy) – and is having an excellent sound of acoustic (‘church’) organ (organum), which I adore. But since it is designed for Windows only, I missed its sound very much while working in Linux. So, at some point in time, I got idea to try making it accessible for Linux too, using SFZ format. And I succeeded!

His original ‘Quilcom Rank Two’ is at disposal for free at [ http://flowstoners.com/quilcom ].

Composition used for testing the quality of the sound is “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor”, BWV 565, by Johann Sebastian Bach and it can be found here:

In this edition is found “Tutti In Piedi” register (‘preset’) of the organ. More of them to come later…
