Henson’s Schimmel Alive MP

A reimagining of Christian Henson's Schimmel Piano

ByMichele

The story

Hello everyone,
since I liked the idea and the remarkable Pianobook movement created by Cristian, I spent some time to breath life in his favorite piano.

This is a little gift for Cristian Henson.

I Basically programmed a Kontakt Patch that will glide seamlessly through dynamics and split points.
Giving to just 2 velocity split layer more expression than they would ever have.

I hope Cristian and everyone will enjoy this.

  • Super playable

I'm first and foremost a pianist, and I'm super picky about how piano samples respond, but this library just gets it right. This is really really well done. Bravo!

  • Remarkable job!

This piano patch sounds amazing, dynamic and crystal clear! I personally didn't get any clipping, unless I hit 2 full chords with two hands in full velocity, but that is not a problem if you reduce the Kontakt volume to -7 instead of the default -6.

My biggest problem is that in general sounds very soft and I need to press very hard to get a more normal sound, but that might be my keyboard being too stiff in general. The picture is not that nice though, and I'd love to see some kind of extras, such as release triggers or a verb.

  • Truly a thoughtful gift

Holy hell, the attention to detail on this patch! The velocity split was so seamless, I couldn't notice anything even when I was trying to really find a break point. I did notice it clipping when I was really plunking hard on my keys, but honestly I think that was Logic clipping, not the sound files themselves. This might honestly be my go to piano for just sitting down and improvising for ideas for the foreseeable future. Only place I think you might be able to improve upon this would be to add a few additional elements to the instrument and GUI, such as reverb, tone, those sorts of things, but at the same time, it's an unnecessary addition to what is already a phenomenal instrument.
