Fallen Keys employs sounds from a dilapidated and out-of-tune piano. The resultant tone produces an aged, vintage and nostalgic mood.
ByAudio Saudade
The story
“Saudade” is a Portuguese noun that describes the sensation of longing, nostalgia, and melancholy. I found this concept enriching as it highlights the nuance of complex emotions that cannot be categorised as simplistic terms like happiness or sadness. When we feel nostalgic, we likely associate our current context with a memory we hold dear. Therefore, I was inspired to produce Fallen Keys to illicit those feelings and act as a medium to tell stories of a weathered and vintage age.
