Dead Line
A 7 year old library Christian made for a live Inside No9 episode... back from the dead, and with a new coat of paint... or is it blood?

The story
A month ago (at the time of me writing this) on the Crow Hill podcast, Christian brought up about Inside No9, which is a horror comedy anthology series he composed for.
Inside No9 is one of my favourite TV shows, and I have a hyperfixation on this tv show. I asked him on that very podcast if I could actually make a DecentSampler version of a library he made for the live episode titled “Dead Line”, not only did he create these samples and composed the score, but he also did one thing no composer has ever done… perform it LIVE. His response was “ABSOLUTELY!” so I went to work on bringing this library back to life.
Now, I could have just made this a typical port with not much stuff to it, but I honestly wanted to make this the best library it could possibly be. For the most part, this stays true to the source material, but also adds new features such as crazy sound design, created by me, and ADSR.
(I also got permission to post this library for anybody wondering)
CONTENTS:
Dead Line consists of 4 instruments:
A Cello
A Mini Harp (with a few microtonal adjustments to sound more creepy)
A buzzer sound created with some generators.
A Triple Felt Piano
These are separated due to me wanting to have a different GUI for the piano.
Cello has 3 articulations (in no particular order):
Circles – Circular Bowing
Shudders – Sul Tasto sustains that morph into “flickers” of sul pont with 2 dynamic layers.
Minor Ricochet – A rhythmic articulation which bounces.
Mini harp is slightly out of tune, which gives it more of an uneasy feel.
Buzzer is, well… very thunderous.
Triple Felt has 2 articulations:
Normal – normal hits
Pedals – played with pedals on.
Triple Felt has Release Triggers to really give the feel of you actually playing a piano.
GUI:
Since this library was EXS based, no GUIs had been designed. So, for simplicity sake, I gave it the UI that all my other libraries have, the Experiments GUI.
VOLUME – Controls volume via CC11
VARIATION – Does 2 things, on “Shudders” it controls dynamic layers, but for everything else… well thats for you to explore >:) Controlled by mod wheel / CC1
RELEASE (Piano only) – Release Triggers
REVERB – Controls the amount of convolution reverb.
REVERBS:
You have 4 convolution verbs to choose from.
Smacker- smacks you with reverb
Close Signal – To me this sounds equivalent to a close mic.
Presence – adds a bit of presence.
Splosh – A long plate reverb. This is on by default.
Tip: use splosh on he harp, adjust the attack and put the variation knob on maximum, thank me later.
