ChingKluay
A simple Ching, Thai hand-cymbals library. Has 2 sets of sound for open and closed (normal/lightly muted). Also comes with presets for notation in MuseScore 4
The story
As far as I know, there aren’t many libraries of Ching, Thai hand cymbals that I can find online.
Of course, there are local Thai musicians who make their own library, but most of them are built on Kontakt.
For a student or someone who just wants to use even a simple Ching,
they might have to sail the seven seas to get Kontakt just to play Ching sounds for their project.
Well, alternatively, if they work on a DAW, they can just use a sample.
But what if they want to use Ching on a notation software like MuseScore?
That’s how this project started. I want to make a free Ching sound library.
I’ve ported 2 instruments from a Kontakt library (that I bought from a local Thai creator)
to DecentSampler back in 2025 as a tech demo. But this time I recorded my own Ching sound
and made it my own lightweight library. While I don’t have decent recording equipment
to make high-quality samples compared to paid libraries, I hope people find this library useful.

My thanks to
– My Thai music teacher friend for lending me their Ching from their shop.

for helping provide feedback and support.
