Cello Drone
A droning synth created from a single Cello note.

The story
Just a simple one this time. This was created from a single note that I was given, its a cello playing the open string (C2) but oddly enough, it sounds like it is playing 2 octaves.
This sample believe it or not came from the same collection of cello FX titled “Cello Under Pressure” from Aleatory, however I wasn’t exactly sure what to do with it… until now anyway.
The idea I had here was to basically make a synth off of this one note. I expanded the range and the highest it goes up to is A2 (any higher and it would sound a bit pants) and the lowest it goes down to is C1 / the double bass register.
To make it feel unsettling I also added a slight pitch bend, like it is slowly evolving.
A couple things to note:
This is not intended to sound realistic.
You do get one sound, however to compensate, I have provided around 6 convolution reverbs.
REVERBS:
Most of these reverbs are the same ones I have used on Violin Experiments, however I tested out a new one which is the sound of smacking a pan, props go to my friend Diggy631 on for that.
To test it, select the reverb titled “Metal”.
Like every other library I’ve made, you have 3 knobs. Volume (Controlled by CC11) and Reverb are self explanatory…
Scuff (Controlled by CC1)… does things, have a play and you’ll see what it does.
