BANDONEON

The characteristic sound of Argentine tango is provided by this instrument of German origin called the bandoneon.

The story

This instrument of German origin arrived in Argentina during the great wave of immigration in the early 20th century and gave tango its distinctive sound. Capturing the instrument’s unique inflections and nuances using a sampler presents a challenge; for this reason, I sought to offer the widest possible range of options by categorizing the samples into *legato*, expressive *staccato*, and *látigo* (sharp, rapid strikes). Nevertheless, it is interesting to observe how its digitization opens up new possibilities. I have thoroughly enjoyed this project, and I hope you do too. Best regards!
