The story

The 1796 Broadwood Baby grand piano for decent sampler is developed for my Postgraduate (taught) Project. The samples were recorded inside the anechoic chamber at ISVR, University of Southampton, United Kingdom, where the Professor, musician and composer David Owen Norris contributed to the recordings, which were later used for physics-based modelling and comparisons. It is a collaborative project between the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research and the University of Southampton’s Music Department.

There are three variations for Broadwood (pedals):
> No Pedals (F0 – key switches),
> with Una Corda Pedal (G0),
> with Sustain Pedal (A0)

All these variations include their respective dynamic levels. If you want to change something and if you are doing it in the XML, please update the edited code with me via GitHub or contact me via email below.

Recorded notes: F0, C0, G1, D1, A2, E2, G#3, A3, E3, B4, D#4 (All samples were recorded at 24-bit – 48 kHz; and the naming was named according to the pianos and not based on the standard. Contact me for more explanation)

I sincerely thank,
1. Giacomo Squicciarini,
2. Pablo Miranda Valiente,
3. David Owen Norris,
4. Cesar Hernandez Martinez,
5. Riccardo Martinelli,
6. ISVR Consulting members for their kind support,
7. Nara Hahn (Cohort – Audio Group, ISVR) for supporting us with the recording equipment.
