The story
Inspiration taken from the wow and flutter of a detuned tape, I sampled a pad and soaked it through Volante, a magnetic tape delay, and Big Sky reverb pedal.
The resulting sounds are something of timbral degradation. The mod wheel adds drive.

Dirty, intimate and very cinematic!
The soundscapes generated by this awesome library are so incredibely versatile. You can achieve something like a smooth retro-synth vibe, and via the modwheel you can evlove it into something very Zimmer-like sound, with resonating sub-frequencies to shake your guts for good. It will greatly benefit more cinematic sounding scenarios, but I can see it fitting well in other styles too.

This is like my favorite synth patches on Pianobook. Such a good sound, David! Perfect amount of warble and bend in the pitch. Overall character is rich and imaginative. Thank you!!!
Cool Lo Fi Strings in 5ths
This is a really great lo-fi strings sound. There's obvious lo-fi warily tape flavor, which is really characterful and unique. The samples are mono rather than stereo, but you can easily add a little reverb in your DAW if you want to widen them up. I find the mono presentation better and more usable as it doesn't take up so much space in a mix. The strings are tuned in perfect 5ths, so you have to be a little careful of how many notes you play at once. You are always getting twice as many notes as you play, and things can get out of control harmonically pretty quickly. I would have preferred if a version without the 5ths would have been included as the second note does limit what you can play. The attack on these samples is pretty long, and that long attack is in the samples themselves and not created by enveloping within Kontakt. That means that you can't shorten up the attack even if you dive into Kontakt. Even so, these small things matter less in this instrument than they might otherwise because the sound is beautiful, useful, and playable just as it is.
