The Kawai Baby Grand Talkbook Mini Cassette Piano
A Kawai Baby Grand Talkbook Mini Cassette Piano from the sub-tropics.

ByMr Hay
The story
I live in the sub-tropics, on the most eastern point of this island continent and have had many visitors over the years. It’s hot, salty, humid and very sticky around these parts which perhaps isn’t the best location for a baby grand. It could be so much worse though…
I sit, hiss and wait, I listen and wobble a little, today you can hear me in all my glory through a time travelling device, the mini cassette dictaphone. It’s not clean and neither would I want it to be.
Do with me what you will.
Much love, Baby Kawai.
Notes on Kontakt Version by Matthias Baden:
This is a Kontakt version of Kevin Hay´s Kawai Baby Grand Talkbook Mini Cassette Piano. I also added some control knobs for reverb and the level of “pedal down” and “pedal up” noises. “NR” samples were noise reduced by use of Audacity.
Reviews
Lo Fi to the extreme!
This is the dirtiest, most lo-fi piano I've run across on the entire PB site. If you're looking for that lo-fi tape character, this is like one stop shopping. This isn't my style in any way, shape, or form, but I can still appreciate what's going on here, and how much some people will love this.
Dynamic and Strong taste piano
Very interesting! Dynamically distorted sounding piano
Tape Distort Piano
This is extremely sound designed and doesn't even really resemble a piano anymore. I like a bit of tape distortion but this is way too much for me, especially on a piano. Maybe on a synth organ this would work for me. If you love tape crunchyness though you will probably love this. i personally like my pianos to sound clear and defined which is the opposite of what tape does. Some might really like this though
