Klaver_Stovu

An old upright piano with wooden frame

The story

Not every piano belongs in a concert hall.

For many years, this old upright piano stood quietly in a Faroese living room — a stova.

Time has left its mark on the instrument. Most tones are imperfect. They are part of the piano’s story.

Stovu Klaver was sampled note by note from the original instrument, capturing not only its tone but also its personality. It is not intended to compete with modern concert grands. Instead, it offers something different: intimacy, nostalgia, and the feeling of sitting in a small room with a piano that has lived a life.

The Faroe Islands have a strong tradition of singing together in homes, schools, and community halls. This instrument is inspired by that tradition. It is a piano for songs, sketches, demos, storytelling, and moments when character matters more than perfection.

May it find a place in your own stova.

Very cool sound! Lots of inspiration with this one.

  • Wonderful honky tonk vibe

This is a sweet little piano that is perfectly imperfect. The samples are very balanced across the keyboard. Somewhat limited in dynamics (just 1 velocity) and needs a slight attack adjustment on the ADSR envelope, but very usable and interesting!
