MORE Violin Experiments
An expansion to my "Violin Experiments" library, and features a chamber ensemble.
The story
On the 7th of August 2025, in collaboration with Violinist Arianna Cunningham, I released “Violin Experiments” to the world. A library with a lot of articulations… from a very plucky playable pizz to genuinely terrifying aleatoric FX and techniques.
The amount of reception we got was absolutely nuts, we got a couple of mentions (notable ones being Sample Library Review which I’m sure some of you may know about, Amner Hunter and A Joe Blog Composer, heck even Christian Henson used it too) and lots of reviews.
We decided to make a sequel, this has been in development for months, as Arianna is a busy person and I’m excited to say that it’s finally here.
I actually put these orchestrations together a few months ago. Not only is this a library I put together as the sequel, but I also built it with the intent of using it on a radioplay / audio drama I’m scoring.
More Violin Experiments also features something a user requested so I delivered to the best of my ability… an ensemble. I don’t have the budget for a full string ensemble so we put together a 3 player (even though its one violinist) violin ensemble. On paper, because it is one person recording 3 times, it shouldn’t work… but oh my goodness, it does. We also put a solo violin in there so there is a choice between the 2. Only one lf the sustains doesn’t loop which is Harmonic Shudders.
ARTICULATIONS:
Aching Swells – Normale swells that increase in vibrato. (loops)
Death – An “evo” articulation that moves from normale to a messed up sul pont sound. (loops)
Wobbles – Another evo type sound that goes from normale to a half trill. (loops)
Harmonic Shudders – Harmonic sustains moving into tremolo. (doesn’t loop)
Spiccato – very short notes with 3 dynamic layers and 4 round robins.
Col Legno – Similar to spiccs.
Ups and Downs (ENSEMBLE ONLY) – Aleatoric Glisses, both up and down, embracing my inner Danny Elfman.
Clusterbus (ENSEMBLE ONLY) – Short gliss clusters inspired by Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho score.
Volume = CC11
Experimental = CC1
Reverb controls the amount of convolution reverb.
One final thing to note, if you use this in conjunction with other string libraries, cut out some of the mids with EQ.
You can check out the overview here (a thing to note is that the samples for Death didn’t loop in this video):
Alternatively, if you wanna see a first look esque video, here is that (The video is from when it was in beta by the way):
Enjoy 😉
