Galimba

A sampled synth library blending glassy tones with a kalimba to make unique textures.

ByJohn Mullaly

The story

I was sitting at home alone one night playing around with a cheap kalimba I bought whilst backpacking in Australia many years ago. I became inspired by it’s askew timbre and decided to blend it with glassy samples, and analogue synth patches to create “Galimba”.

Featured:
* Sampled kalimba.
* Sampled jug blowing.
* Sampled glass bottles hit with a fork.
* Sampled noise from the edge of a vinyl record.
* Sampled synth pad from a Moog Subsequent 37.
* Granular synth patch made with the samples of the glass bottles.
* Custom IR of the Vermona DSR-3 stereo spring reverb unit.

I hope someone can make use of it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy!
