Piano Percussions

A set of percussive sounds made by sampling an old upright piano hit with a felted mallet as well as some additional sounds. They are gathered in 2 drum kits.

The story

I worked on a project where I wanted to experiment with woody percussive sounds; they needed to be dark, damp and old. So I first looked around me and started hitting things I had in the studio…and also the kitchen.
My old upright piano was perfect because the sound resonates through the strings and soundboard, giving a lot of depth and colour to the tone of the percussions.

This was intended to be used with electronic sequencing in mind but I also made a Kontakt/DecentSampler instrument.

Have fun and don’t hesitate to share what you compose with it 🙂
