The story

I always wanted to contribute an instrument to this amazing community……so I recorded some steel water glass sounds using my phone (i don’t have a mic), edited them, and used Christian’s ‘Ice Choir’ technique to create these amazing pads. Use modwheel to jump between two different patches or use individual patches provided in the folder. Enjoy!!!

  • Dark, ambient pad with unique character

This is great! I like this delayed and distorted sound a lot. I could never imagine what it was, but the sound is nicely dark ambient pad.

I agree with alex about the name not being fitting for this library. I think its always good for a library name to give you a clue as to what to expect from the instrument. When i hear glass pads i think of really beautiful shimmery ambient very clean pads with that soothing almost metallic quality to them. This instrument is edgy, has alot of modulation and glitching depending on which patch you choose and has more or a sci fi vibe than an ambient one. Still the end result is really interesting and cool espicially because this is your first instrument and it was recorded on your phone. You can get some pretty nice variation out of this instrument. From more predictable pads to glip gloop glitches. It would also be nice to have ADSR on the GUI itself but no complaints really about this instrument.

  • Needs a more fitting instrument name!

This is a very cool instrument, well sampled, with nice character, that doesn't match the name "Steel Glass Pads. The unique characteristic about these is that they offer a kind of retro sci-fi swarm sounds that blends very well with the included pads. Nice! For this kind of instruments I always believe that a GUI that features ADSR controls can skyrocket the experience, but this is a very barebones patch instead - other than the modwheel mixing feature in the two patches, which is a nice idea.

  • Retro sci-fi space pads

This library provides some interesting pads which seem to be inspired by retro sci-fi. Inexplicably, the lowest available note is D#2. There are no controls on the GUI, but of course, you can always dive into Kontakt if you need things like ADSR. The attack time on the raw samples is actually pretty slow, though, so there's only so much you can change the sound using the ADSR controls. These are unique and fun sounds, though, and it's great that this samplist is sharing their first attempts with our community. Hopefully we'll hear more in the future!
