Buwa’s Harmonium

A restored harmonium at least a hundred years old

Byphatcowlee

The story

– Restored an old no-brand-name harmonium which belonged to my late grandfather.
– Repair people said it’s at least a hundred years old, if not older.
– Samples recorded with a ZOOM H5n.
– I use to call him BUWA which in Nepali means father.

  • Just what I was looking for

I'm working on a track for a client and came to PB searching for the sound of the Harmonium and found Buwa's sample pack - the perfect sound for this project!

  • Good sound but needs work

I agree with what people above me said, while the actual sound of the recordings is great, the programming side is not so great. The attack times of the notes don't feel smooth and there is definitely some crackling and artifacts going on in the samples too. The samples also dont loop which could work depending on what you're looking to do but it would be nice to be able to sustain chords and notes. There are a few harmoniums on pianobook i like more but this has potential

  • Very inspiring sound but some improvement needed

The sound is incredible, but unfortunately a lack of Kontakt programming makes the library pretty unusable. For instance, some of the start points of the notes are clipping- which can be fixed with an attack envelope. The samples also don't loop, so it's not possible to play drones!
