Low Whistle
An old, gig-weary low whistle restored to its former glory and available now as a sample library. Sampled lovingly with 4 velocity layers and 2 mic positions.
The story
Purchased from an old market shop in the middle of the Irish Gaeltacht in Spideal, Co. Galway, this old low whistle (tenor whistle) has been through a lot. It’s been played on stages all around Ireland; seen sun, rain and snow. So much so that over the years, mostly through neglect on my part, it has ended up nearly (but not quite) 1 semitone flat.
Because of this, it was unfortunately retired from its life on the road. Left abandoned in a drawer, dreaming of the glory days and wondering what could have been…
Until now! Years later, with modern DAWs and their excellent pitch correction technology, the instrument has been restored to its former glory digitally in the form of this sample library for Decent Sampler.
Each note of the whistle’s 2 octave range has been sampled at 4 different velocity layers and with different articulations (legato, longs and shorts) through a near and far mic. Longs and legatos also have the option to enable/disable overblown samples for the high velocity layers. You can also control the amount of vibrato with the mod wheel for extra expression and a natural authentic sound.
V1.1 now available: fixed a bug with Decent Sampler 1.9.0 where the vibrato was too slow

Great sound!
A great sound for this whistle, almost like a nice sounding flute, especially in the lows. I love it and will use it for sure in an upcoming track. I also love the GUI -nice and clean. Thank you for making this!
Brilliant flute
This is exactly what I was looking for! The sound is clear and versatile. This is by far the best flute library for Decent Sampler I have tested. Thank you!
