Once upon a time, I payed $80 for a completely ruined Gibson LG-0 recovered from the attic of someone’s late relative. After a lot of time and wood glue I was able to restore it to somewhat playable condition. The guitar has ‘Stella’ written everywhere, and I have no idea who that may have been, but I think these kinds of stories and histories are the best parts of used acoustic instruments.
Although I play it every now and again, it mostly sits as a display piece in my house since I fear it may crumble to dust at any moment when playing it. So, to share the sound and story of Stella, I figured I would immortalize it in a sample library and push the sound of this old guitar into some new and interesting territories.
This is Stella.

High quality and full of character
This is my favorite acoustic guitar VST that I've found. I primarily use the fingerpicked patch and it works incredibly well. To me, this library landed in the sweet spot of capturing as much of the worn and vintage timbre as possible without adding in so many of the imperfections that the sound becomes hard to utilize in a typical setting. There will always be limitations stopping virtual instruments from behaving exactly like their real-life counterparts, but this feels as close as one could get. With careful playing and adjusting of the GUI settings, I can emulate a handful of playstyles that feel accurate and authentic, fitting well with the colorful tone of instrument.
The other patches focus on harmonics and effects, and while I don't view these as "staple" sounds, they're just as nuanced and high quality, adding a lot of extra utility to the sample pack and contributing to the overall inspiration that it provided me. Thanks so much to Venus Theory for taking the time to make such a special, satisfying library.
A fantastic guitar sound!
This is a beautiful instrument that features 4 different patches of sounds, and all of them are fantastic. The sounds are high quality, they play really well they have a range of 3-4 octaves, and they offer something different from other acoustic guitar libraries. I especially love the Granular Waterfall! Very nice, highly recommended!
Love an old acoustic
Really useable sample pack from the ever reliable Cameron. Downloaded the freebie version, my first specifically for Decent Sampler (which is great by the way). Great tones, tasty FX and nice and simple spread of 'modes'. The sign of a good sample pack is if it immediately inspires you, which happened as soon as I booted up Stella in 'Fingerstyle'. Lovely stuff. It reminds me of a dulcimer instrument I have from Embertone, which I love. Great stuff - thanks VT!
