60’s Chord Organ

A rich sounding Bontempi-esque chord organ + pad

The story

I bought this towards the end of 2018 to try and get myself out of a creative slump. I searched through gumtree for something interesting and affordable I could sample and found this thing. It sat in a corner of my living room for months gathering dust before I finally decided to sample it. Its loud, smells like its from the 60’s once the fans get going, and a few of the high noted don’t work properly.

I recorded it with an SM57 placed fairly randomly above it. The high notes that don’t work swell in to a nice weaker note so I turned them into a couple of pads.

I recommend the reverb pad!

  • Pads over organ

This is a very cute little instrument that is worth it because of the pad patches. The main instrument itself is cute as well, but I don't see it fitting well in my mixes, though it might be nice for you! There are no ways to tweak any instrument though, it's just plug-n-play all the way. You should give it a try!

  • Surprisingly versatile

This is going to work perfectly in a project I'm currently working on, where scenes were temped with music by Beirut... the band that is. However the inclusion of the pad sounds mean there's much more content to use in a variety of situations. Nice work!

  • More than Meets the Eye

Being a fan of fan organs, I thought I knew what to expect when I loaded this up, but I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent pad sounds also included. The inclusion of those sounds made this sample pack far more usable in a wide variety of musical situations. This is worth the download!

  • Beautiful Pad

The pad sound is really gentle and beautiful and sounds very interesting. I guess it would be nice to be able to tweak some parameters but its still very nice and mellow. The main sound is a little cheesy but this can be great in the right context. I can't picture myself using the main patch very much but maybe if a particular scenario comes up where i feel like its useful ill give it a go. I don't know why pianobook is saying my rating is 2 stars when i gave everything 3 stars except the GUI but overall in my opinion the Instrument deserves 3 stars
