The story

More than one time, I heard a vacuum cleaner while I was making music. This was very annoying until I thought: Why not make an instrument out of it? And here it is..

  • Noisy but fun

This pad is very noisy but this adds to the character. It definitely has a vacuum kind of sucking sound to it. I find the higher notes to be a little much and prefer to stay in the midrange with this one. I also like the mod wheel down because with it up its too chaotic for me personally. I also might want to cut out a bit of the noise with eq depending on how im feeling. The GUI is simple and well designed. Not really anything specific to complain about here. Everything i don't like about it just comes down to personal taste and i definitely like some aspects of this instrument

  • A very airy drone-like vacuum

This is a patch that can become really loud and intimidating by using the modwheel and the rest of the two knobs included. If you turn them both down and leave the modwheel up, you will hear a weird click sound but that goes away as soon as you "enable" the instrument through the knobs. Perhaps it would be a good idea to introduce a low pass filter too.

I find the knobs reacting to horizontal mouse movement a little weird, since most software is using vertical movement instead, but that doesn't affect the sound in any way.

On my end, the wallpaper path is broken, so I don't know which one is the "right" wallpaper - I think it's the wooden looking one!

  • This sound doesn't suck

Once you reconnect the sample folder -- this library was saved with absolute paths-- you'll be greeted with a two knob interface. Unfortunately, the volume knob doesn't work. Fortunately, it is assigned to the mod wheel, and that does work, so there's still an easy way to control volume in real time. The Filter cutoff knob does work, though, which is great. This library has lots of reverb, but no GUI controls for reverb. You can dig into Kontakt and modify it if you wish without too much difficulty, though. Fortunately, this library was sampled without reverb, which makes it a lot more useful than those which have reverb permanently applied to the samples. Overall, this library is playable and fun. By the very nature of the instrument being sampled, there's a lot of noise, but that's sort of par for the course.
