The story

My newest experiment in creating interesting Kontakt instruments is this echo pad, made from the sound of a rooster record at an animal sanctuary outside of Montréal. The sounds of this farm were very melodic and even rhythmic and they inspired me to create a fuller instrument that will be called ‘Sanctuary’, featuring pads and sounds from all the animals found there. The Rooster Delay is the first taste of what that will sound like.

The controls for this patch are very simple, just two sliders that control the attack and release. The instrument is velocity sensitive, and I’ve included awe animation that grows depending on how hard you hit the keys!

  • Warm textured delayed sample

Very very interesting!!! The unique tone of sounds panned left and right, you can hear the nice delayed effect. GUI design is very nice too!

  • Very fun that welcomes creativity

This might be either a hit or miss. At first it is kind of quiet in general, but the quality of the samples is excellent. It features a very unique sound that might either strike you with tons of ideas, or just none. The ping-pong effect is cool, but there is a general lack of control, but restrictions are not always a bad thing.

  • Really interesting sound that i dont think ill use

This sound is really interesting and evolving. Theres alot of modulation and pitch bending happening which can be really fun. Its also an extremely creative instrument being sourced from animal sounds. The sound itself is pretty out there and i cant really see myself using it unfortunately. Maybe with alot of sound design to make it almost un recognizable. Theres not alot of controllability in the GUI which makes it hard to tweak because some effects seem to be baked in. I think people that are more into colorful and jarring sounds might enjoy this but it doesn't work for me personally. The GUI animation is really cool though.

  • Cute idea, fun GUI

This library gets bonus points for the animated zooming chicken interface and the cute idea of making an instrument created from noises recorded at an animal sanctuary. Past that, it gets harder, because this sound has a pitch bend in it right at the start which is pronounced enough that it limits the usefulness of the sound, IMHO. While there's lots to like about this, I just can't figure where I'd ever use a sound like this. So, hopefully it's useful to lots of people. It might just be me.
