The story

I recorded long droning notes with a slide on both a Dobro and Pedal Steel Guitar. I used an AKG 414 to close mic and also an old Fender Princeton amp, with a Keeley modded Tube Screamer. I do a lot of rootsy cinematic music and wanted some more rawness in some pads with hints of Americana sprinkled in. I created one Multi with everything for the grand effect, though the individual instruments are useful on their own.

I was going for a Lanois-esque kind of pad that would add some intrigue while keeping it very organic. Hope you find it useful!!

  • Chamber Waves

This is an awesome sound and reminds me of Ofafur Arnalds Chamber Waves because theres seemingly all these different articulations happening at once all building together into tho cloud of sound. Some have very beautiful vibrato which gives a really cool sound. These sounds are awesome but you might want to tweak volume decisions of the different tracks, panning decisions or turn certain layers off depending on what you are going for. For example i dont really like the way pedal steel memory man interacts with the other layers because the sound starts up right away while the other layers fade in more slowly and it also dies out pretty quickly. I would either turn this one off or adjust the attack if possible so its more inline with the other sounds. If all these layers were in one GUI with Volume and attack blending options for each it would be perfect. This is still a really great instrument regardless though

  • Calming nice drones

I didn't know about nkm where multiple instances are loaded at once. This gives you a rich overall sound and all you have to do is select the patches you need. I think there is no GUI? Or I'm sorry if it's on my side because some libraries got an error when unzipping

  • Evocative and flexible

Having this presented as a multi rather than a GUI is actually really helpful - it's easier to work out what's doing what and makes fine tuning so much simpler. I love the way this evolves with different elements joining and left to right movement. Having instant access to pan, tune and level for this different elements makes for even more possibilities. Super atmospheric pad sound.

  • If you liked the Multiverse, this will blow your mind!

Similar to the Multiverse Mandolin Pad, this follows the exact same idea - an unrecognizable pad instrument that can fully dress your ambient tracks. Again though, the lack of GUI makes it very weird to handle. I'd love this to be in a single patch full of ADSR and Reverb options. It would make it simply perfect.

  • There's a lot going on here!

This pad has so many layers and there's so much organic goodness! The upper register is reminiscent of an organ, while the lower range presents an interstellar swelling and evolving pad. This sound is evocative and beautiful. Well done!
