The story

After finishing the delicious pizza, I bumped the box as I was about to discard it. Then I thought, “I wonder what I could get from this via sampling?” So, of course, I did so.

I sampled it using my Tascam DR-40 at 96kHz. I recorded striking the closed box in the center with my finger, as well as rubbing the edge of the box against a shirt.

Using the strike sample in Kontakt’s Tone Machine I got a synthy sound. I then put it through Valhalla Supermassive, Backhole, and Valhalla Shimmer, and the sound was really nice, very lush. So I sampled that via every note on an 88 note keyboard, up to F#6, where Kontakt couldn’t play the 96kHz sample at any higher pitch.

I think it turned out really nice. I hope you will agree. Thanks for listening.

  • One man's trash is another man's sample library

Another outstanding library from Clay! I was expecting an entire library like the "Percussion" patch, but I should have known better. There's some pads, a synth, even some crazy sound designs. I'll probably never use the sound designs, but the pads and synths are super cool. Excellent work as usual from Clay!

  • I wouldn't believe it

Really? Is it really all coming from a pizza box? I wouldn't really believe it. Everything seems to be sampled real nicely, and there is no chance someone will realise this is a pizza box. The pads sound wonderful, especially the wider one. The smoothness along with the tiny texture inside it warms my heart... aaand the pizza box in the GUI makes me hungry. Thanks, I guess! the percussion is also quite good. I guess we all owe Clay some pizza!

  • Quiet but beautiful

These pads are a bit quiet but very beautiful. I wasn't really into the percussion personally but the pads remind me of synth strings from LABS. They have a synth like but still very organic sound. Its not the most interesting pad on pianobook but its still very well done and it has a pulse to it that keeps it interesting. Also is still very mellow in the high end which i like. Good Job

  • It's what you'd expect...

It's about what you'd expect from a sampled pizza box. The pads are kinda interesting, but overall very common sounding. I like the percussion but it definitely has a niche sound that may not be for everyone. Truly an interesting concept that seems to have been executed well.
