The story
My name is Ahmed Almusawi, and I’m a TV/film composer and music producer from the Sultanate of Oman. I’m thrilled to be making my second contribution to this vibrant community.
Allow me to introduce you to the Rahmani Drum, also known as the Bass Drum, a rare instrument cherished in Oman’s folk music tradition. Alongside the Kasir, it forms the backbone of Omani percussion. The Rahmani is particularly prominent in transitional musical forms accompanied by rhythmic beats.
Larger than the Kasir, the Rahmani emits a deep, resonant sound. Its ends are adorned with goatskin or sheepskin, tightly secured with ropes crafted from palm fiber or leather.
Rahmani Drums come in four distinct types, primarily seen in two shapes: barrel-shaped and hourglass-shaped. The Rahmani, as featured here, finds its place in the southern part of Oman, specifically in the Dhofar Region.

Clean and Dry, studio ready
As others have commented, this is super crisp and well-recorded. To my taste, I wish that this was either recorded a little more mono or exactly as is with a mono / width knob included in the interface. Other than that its a couple keys mapped to some excellent one shots that make this a great little studio / production ready patch to throw into some rhythm or foley. Thank you for sharing!
Well designed and crafted drum
This is a very simple but awesomely crafted instrument patch that features an ethnic drum. It is dynamic, it is expressive and it sounds super nice for sure. My only issue is that the panning settings are a little weird, and the that the sample in the F note is very quiet compared to the other ones. Other than that, this is simply amazing!
Well recorded drum!
This is a very well recorded and playable drum. It sounds great, and is useful in a wide variety of musical settings. The GUI controls are excellent, and this is a well-crafted Kontakt instrument. Truly excellent!
Super well recorded...
The samples here are outstandingly realistic. My only suggestion is to narrow the stereo field for easier mixing since the different notes are pretty far apart at the moment, but it's otherwise very good! Great work!
Really dynamic and organic
This is a really well sampled drum. Its really dynamic and it seems like there are round robins which is also a huge plus. I think this drum could work in a variety or contexts, you could even do some sound design to make it larger than life or distorted. The GUI is really nice and usable too. I appreciate that the samplist made panning decisions for us but this limits the controllability of the instrument. We as composers usually like to make those decisions ourself. I think it would have been useful to include a patch with no panning. Apart from that this is still a great instrument though
