The story

I got really inspired to try sampling synthesizers when I discovered pianobook. Once upon a time I had an old Roland Juno Alpha 2 with some serious pads. stupid as was, I sold it. and now I want it back.
This instrument is my take on a “JUNO” type pad sound. it is very simple to use, and with only a few knobs you can get great sounds really fast.

  • Yes....but....YES

Don't listen to the naysayer below. This instrument, along with the 'University Piano' show real promise in Jim's sampling ability. The review below points out there is no filter knob despite the label.. The word 'Filter' is simply labelling the filter controls for cut-off and resonance. Just as the word 'Envelope' label precedes the ADSR section. Not sure how one cant see that. As a POLY D owner myself you have definitely captured the range of sounds this thing can make and the JUNO vibe shines through. The POLY D has a brilliant built in JUNO style chorus and I would love to have to seen you double sample it with the chorus engaged, adding a button to the GUI to switch. But overall this is a great effort and really worth adding to your arsenal!

  • A super nice synth pad!

I really can't find anything really negative about this. It is a very nicely captured synth with included ADSR and filter controls. If you like such a sound, this is a must-have in your arsenal. It won't change your life, but it can definitely make it a little better!

  • Warm Analogue Sound

A great sense of warmth and the character of the synth is captured well. To improve this a 5 could do with more round robins to add a bit of variation.

  • Big Saw waves

This instrument offers up a big sawtooth wave which is fat and rich and has lots of analog character. I really appreciate the filter ADSR controls. That makes this instrument a lot more usable. It would have been cool if there were more waveforms offered which could be mixed in, but over all, this is a great first attempt at sampling synths and I'm sure many lessons were learned for future synth sampling endeavors.

  • Pretty standard...

Make no mistake that it's well sampled, but it sounds just too common for me. A simple square wave synthesizer could probably replicate the sound in short order. Maybe it's of a strike against the original instrument, but it's just not my taste.
