The story

Four years ago I had to sell all my studio hardware to make room for the birth of our twins Ossian and Ephra. The studio became their room. I’ve since found a corner of our house for my MacBook and AKAI MPK88 and they love coming into the room, grabbing my headphones and mashing the keys and hearing sounds magically appear.

I asked them if they wanted me to make an instrument out of their voices, and intrigued by this alchemy, they heartily agreed.

I videoed them saying “BAAA” as-in tune and together as I could make them, imported the audio into Logic, and had a fiddle. The resulting pad is from one of their Baaas. Works best using sparse, individual notes, held for a long time, and two octaves apart.

  • Evolving synth sound

Very interesting. It is like an evolving synth sound. It evolves relatively fast, so it would have been better if ADSR kind of controller was available.

  • Eerie Pulsing Pad

This pad sounds great overall, no GUI but for what it is its awesome. I might cut out some highs. The high ens gets a bit piercing which i don't like but the mids are really cool and atmospheric. This instrument has a very interesting breathy majestic quality to it and theres also some nice pulsing effects going on here. It also works great as a low suspenseful drone. A-lot of great stuff can be done with this. Great job overall

  • Really cool evolutions and layers...

The layers that you can hear in this instrument are really cool and I love the way that it evolves as you keep the key pressed. Overall it's very nice, but a simple GUI and some controls can go a long way. Best!

  • Interesting pad

This is an interesting pad sound. I found the attack and release really long for my taste. Upon digging in, I discovered that there's about .3 seconds of dead air at the start of the sample in addition to a long attack time in the sample itself. After adjusting that, the sound became a lot more playable. There's also reverb, delay, and phaser on the sound. I found the character much more usable after removing these especially the phaser and shortening the release. There's a bunch of resonance in this sample, and using Oeksound Soothe on it really helped with those peaks, and allowed me to play more notes at once. Overall, this is a fun sound, and if you're willing to tweak it a bit, you'll find lots to like here.

  • Enigmatic pad

This pad is well made. The sound quality is not bad, on the contrary, it is decent. However, it would be great if the sounds were infinite and didn't take too long to play, which happens mainly with the low notes. The interface offers what you need to play with the controls and get interesting results.
