Guys – please can someone give me their advice on using the H4N to record my first set of percussion instruments. I could hire something better, but I want to know if using the H4N what one should do, for getting the best results. Or should i just hire a decent pair of stereo Mics from my local dealer. Or if you recommend buying something like AudioTechnica or AKGs. Thoughts please.
My advice is use what you have, starting out. That being said, the H4N should give you good results. No matter what you use, you will need to do noise reduction. When sounds get stacked in samplers the noise floor can get really high.
