I’ve been a long time lurker in Pianobook – I check it several times a week for new uploads, and have downloaded and thoroughly enjoyed huge numbers of instruments. I hope to one day contribute once circumstances allow.
Having said this – the recent upload of “Ocarina” – really worries me about the future of the site. It’s a great place for the community to share homemade instruments, but allowing companies (however big or small) to post “trial versions” – limited version of full, paid instruments – is, in my opinion, very dangerous to the future of the website and the community.
I mean no disrespect to the person/people behind Ocarina, I just don’t think this is the place for it.
I’d be interested to hear other people’s thoughts on this.
you are not the only one with this view. There is actually another thread already:
“The coming mall of trial versions?”
There are a bunch of opinions about this, so this could be the place you are looking for.
