    Dear Friends,

The time has come for me to buy a proper set of microphones for sampling (piano or whatever else comes across me). I read excellent things about the Lineaudio CM4 microphones (and heard some really impressive audio, with people claiming they have only used a pair of these mikes).

Anyone using these regularly? Anything to be aware of?

    Thanks in advance,
    Tamas

We had a similar subject some days ago – maybe it might help:

Microphone suggestions for general sampling please (experimental film scoring)

Interesting to see so many suggestions for SM57 which is something of an oddball in terms of frequency response (super uneven in the high frequencies).
I guess there must be a good reason why it’s used so widely, however I thought that recording instruments (especially quiet sounds) is better with more sensitive – and more linear mikes.
