This would likely take some scripting. But one thing you could try doing is putting each “same note” in different groups and then using the modwheel or some other CC to fade between them, perhaps from “darkest/fullest” sounding to “brightest/thinnest.” So, for example, the high open E sound can also be played on the B, G, D, and maybe even the A string. I would put the open E sound in a group with the other brighter sounding notes, and each darker E in their own groups. Obviously that’s a lot of Es. So maybe limiting it to just 2 other groups. Then use the modwheel to blend between them. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, use the AET filter and only sample 2 notes (bright, dark) and then get a more elegant crossfade between them.
