Hidde Pieters’s Reviews

  • Just phenomenal

This is hands down one of the best libraries I've come across on this platform, and I've seen my share of good ones. The sound is absolutely incredible, and the wide range of effects and options given in the library makes this such a widely usable instrument. It's honestly incredible that this is just being given away for free, as this rivals some of the professional libraries I've come across. Seriously solid work!

  • Haunting

I got this one on a hunch it'd be good, and it did not disappoint. The character almost sounds like a filter violin, and is perfect for atmospheric stingers and melodies. I could even see it being perfect as a layer for EDM leads. A bit of a shame that there isn't a loop function built into this, as that'd make it perfect for sustained pads as well, but all in all, this is a definite winner, and a fond new addition to my toolbox

  • Incredible atmosphere

If you're looking for something that can instantly give you an interesting atmosphere, this is it. The movement of the strings is haunting, and the range is superb. It absolutely accomplishes its mission of providing something that live play could never achieve, and I am definitely going to use this going forward

  • But how though?

I can't even begin to imagine how a library as pristine as this was possibly recorded remotely through Discord; it honestly baffles me. I downloaded this library a good while back, and it's been a real mainstay in my arsenal. The library has a very nice and soft tone to it that makes it perfect for writing very ambient or orchestral pieces. The GUI isn't anything fancy -it's practical, does what it's supposed to, and does it well. The few criticisms that I could think of are the following: There are some notes that are obviously pitched, which isn't entirely a problem in it of itself, but it does colour the choir to an extent that might not suit everyone's tastes. I've never had much of an issue with it myself, but I could see that being a slight turn off for someone else. Some of the higher notes have some rather loud resonances in the 500 Hz range, which, if not handled with care, could get a bit overpowering, though I found this issue to be very circumstantial. All in all, a really solid library, and a definite recommendation if you're looking for a quality choir.

  • Instant vibes!

This instrument absolutely shines when used in the right context. It has a very peculiar sound, my favourite being the simpler Tape Loop patch; it's a bit wobbly, and the vinyl-esque crackle definitely adds a lot of character. I personally found the other patches to, more often than not, be a bit too much, often restricting myself to no more than one or two extra voices, but this does give it a lot of versatility, as it gives you the option to shape the sound as you see fit. That said, all the extra layers together, when panned, makes it sound positively huge, which could definitely be useful in the right context. All in all, real solid library, and a must have if you're planning on making something more dark sounding.
